Educational, Welfare & Research Foundation Malaysia (EWRF) is a non-profit voluntary community-service based organization. It was founded in 1978 and has 1200 members throughout the country with 12 branches. Drawing its membership from a wide array of professions, communities, skills and interest groups, the EWRF has over the years actively implemented educational programmes and activities for the betterment of the disadvantaged members of the community. In its principal role as a vehicle to initiate socio-economic change and development, EWRF draws its strength from the communities' manpower resources and a tradition of selfless service.
The aim of the Foundation is to promote education as the key for advancement. The Foundation also seeks to generate an awareness of self-worth, discipline and greater participation in the social and economic development of the nation. Towards this end, the Foundation aims at fulfilling the following objectives:-
1. To raise awareness in civil, educational, economic and social issues,
2. To increase the opportunities to succeed in education.
3. To assist in the development of business entrepreneurship and support career development.
4. To undertake charitable activities that would improve the welfare of the less privileged.
5. To conduct research on issues that would contribute towards the well being of Malaysian Society
Various projects have been identified, with the following having been carried out so far:
1. Running of kindergartens
2. Project ABC (Acknowledge a Bright Child)
3. Motivation camps for students of Tamil Schools, their teachers and parents
4. Subsidized tuition classes for Tamil School pupils
5. Study loans and scholarships
6. Running of hostels for Secondary School pupils
7. Welfare aid
8. Providing aid to Tamil Schools
The above-mentioned is EWRF’s latest project to bring a change to some of the under-privileged in our community

APPEAL FOR DONATIONS FOR ENGLISH
ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME 2009
|
The Chamber’s Scholarship and Welfare Committee is undertaking and supporting English Enrichment Programme as an ongoing project in the long term to increase the proficiency level of English Language in Tamil Schools and to build self-confidence among students.
This project started off with the involvement of 2 schools in 2005, 10 schools in 2006 and have increased to 15 schools in 2007 and 2008. This programme assessed students in the vocabulary, pronunciations, fluency, tone or inclination, sentences and comprehension.
The Chamber has received a very positive feedback and results from the project coordinators with fruitful progress from the students. In general the students have improved significantly in vocabulary, pronunciations and fluency. A report on the English Enrichment Programme is attached.
With heart full satisfaction, the Chamber has decided to contribute annually towards this noble and worthy project which will showcase the caring nature of the Indian business community for the well being of our future generation.
Members are encouraged to contribute and lend a helping hand to support this worthy cause. Please fill up the reply slip below and return it to Chamber secretariat with your contribution. All your contributions will be acknowledged with a tax exemption receipt from the Chamber.

| The Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry is looking into the possibility of donating computers to schools/ orphanages/ charitable homes in the State of Selangor and Wilayah Persekutuan.
